you've had turkey on Thanksgiving, right? emo-tmbgtalk_dunno.gif
Panarchy
I haven't!
biff
you've never eaten turkey? emo-tmbgtalk_hmm.gif i find that hard to believe. emo-tmbgtalk_lol2.gif

Cronny
I think Tryptophane's about a guy who's drowsy on Thanksgiving after eating a lot of turkey.

In my vein, in my mind
In my chemistry I'd find

By the leg of the bird
And the special day observed

That kind of spells it out for me..
I think the second layer of the song is that he wants to make sure he gets seconds after he takes a nap and he's worried about everyone else finishing it off:

I was mad 'til I found
There was more to go around
Tryptophane

Like a swan on the lake
I'm not calm, that's my mistake

Well, they don't celebrate American Thanksgiving in Australia. Also turkeys are native to North America. I'm not sure how often it's eaten' overseas. (Which doesn't rhyme overseas)

I saw an episode of Iron Chef where the ingredient was turkey. The only judge who had ever had it before was an actress who had worked in the states.
biff
that's incredible! emo-OMGjawdrop.gif i had no idea. i mean, i knew they didn't have Thanksgiving everywhere, but i thought everybody had turkey. emo-emot-LOL.gif

well Panarchy, yer missing out. turkey is dee-licious. emo-_drool222222222.gif it does make you kinda sleepy though, especially on Thanksgiving, when you wash it down with a couple of glasses of wine, or a couple of beers. emo-tmbgtalk_yeah.gif
Panarchy
Nah, I've had Turkey.

But I don't celebrate Thanksgiving.
biff
i figured that, since you didn't have pilgrims & Indians & stuff. emo-tmbgtalk_dunno.gif

Well wrong religion actually. Since I'm not Christian I don't celebrate Thanksgiving emo-tmbgtalk_dunno.gif

As simple as that... emo-th_tongue6.gif

Thanksgiving isn't about religion, per se. it's an American holiday, where we celebrate the fact that we came here. it started with the Pilgrims who first came to America. at harvest time they were happy they survived, with the help of the Indians (aka Native Americans). so they all got together for a big feast. the Pilgrims were religious, it's true, but nowadays, everybody here celebrates it with a big feast, whether they believe in God or not.

then later, because of Manifest Destiny & stuff, the Americans who immigrated here took over everything from the East coast, where they landed, to the west coast, & pretty much killed/displaced everyone who was here before them. namely the Indians, & Mexicans. emo-tongue3.gif

my ancestors came here yeeeears later in the early 20th century, as immigrants through Ellis Island, so i had nothing to do with it. emo-emot-LOL.gif

it's one of my favourite holidays, cuz there's no pressure. you just go to Mom's, eat a huge meal, & leave. emo-emot-LOL.gif no presents, & very little cooking on my part. i do bring the deviled eggs every year though. like 72 of em. emo-tmbgtalk_eek00000000.gif i can practically make em in my sleep, cuz i've done it like a million times.

& you know, it never hurts to pause for a moment to be grateful for all you have, no matter who/what you believe in or don't. just the fact that i'm still alive after all i've been through in my life is enough for me to be thankful. emo-prplhappy.gif great husband, great kids, great Mom & siblings etc. home, food, transportation. we're not rich, or even well off, but we're doing alright, & for that, i am thankful every day of the year. emo-prplhappy.gif
