So far, so good... For dinner tonight, I had a thin-crust pepperoni pizza at Pizza Hut. And my cake was one of those ice cream ones -- a thick layer of vanilla over a thin layer of chocolate, with a layer of crumbled Oreo cookies on the bottom. Never had one like it before, but it was fantastic.

Only got a few presents from my dad and stepmother, but they were right up my alley -- a 4-place setting of Corelle dishes (white plates, bowls and saucers with a cool black design around the edges, and black coffee cups), a big coffee mug, and a couple pairs of clip-on earrings.

And tomorrow, my mom and I are going to the movies -- we're going to try to pull a double feature of Mamma Mia! and The Dark Knight...

The movies were good; and Mom gave me the new Emmylou Harris CD (All I Intended To Be) , as well as a care package with bottles of my favorite shampoo and conditioner (VO5 Extra Body), a bottle of skin-firming lotion, a one-pound bag of peanuts (salted and roasted in the shell), and a couple of mint 3 Musketeers bars.

Oh, and I'll be getting a Mac very soon.

i've never tried VO5 shampoo. i always go with the cheap stuff. Suave or Equate.

Around here, VO5 and Suave cost about the same.

It was bought Saturday (Dad got it while I was at the movies with Mom); but we didn't start messing with it until Monday morning.

It's an iMac desktop model with iLife '08 built into it, a 20-inch screen, a 250 GB hard drive, and CD/DVD burner.

cool! is it the stainless steel kind, or the white kind?

Stainless steel. And yeah, I love it!

I still have my PC up, since it's still got my Word files that I've been working on (I haven't tried transferring them to the Mac via my external hard drive yet -- I'm hoping I can save them all as Rich Text Format files and then open them up with Text Editor); but I'm online with the Mac, and I'm loving the Safari browser.

i never cared for Safari. i use it for some stuff, but most of the time i use Firefox. the add ons rock on Firefox. no ads!

I might try to install that on here eventually, since I really liked that browser too. (So long as I don't ever have to mess with IE again! )

yeah.

i really loved the scrapbook on IE though, & nothing i've tried since has ever come close. Firefox has a scrapbook add on, but it's not the same.

they don't even make IE for the newer Macs though. the last one i can remember having it on was my old purple iMac with OS 9. OS 9 sucked, btw. i'm the last person to diss a Mac, but i never had anything but trouble with OS 9.

OS X, on the other hand, totally rocks.

hey, i bet you have time machine on your OS, huh? (what is it, leopard? i always get their jungle cats all mixed up) i'd like to try that...

I've never used a scrapbook on computer.

I'm glad I waited until some time after the OS X came along to finally get a Mac, if the OS 9 was really that bad.

And yes I do have Time Machine, though I haven't set it up to use it yet. (And the new Mac upgrade IS called Leopard.)

scrapbook is/was really cool. it's kinda like bookmarks or favourites, but it just saves one page. if the page goes away, it's still in your scrapbook. it was good for pictures, cuz even if the picture disappeared, i could screen capture it from the scrapbook. the one on Firefox is similar to the one on IE, but it's also totally different & i liked the other one better. on the IE scrapbook there was an actual link to the site at the top of the page so you could see if it was still there, & access the site. on the Firefox one there's no link, & it's a lot harder to get to the original site.

i loved OS 9 at the time, cuz i didn't know any better.

time machine looks pretty great, but as little trouble as i've had with Tiger (i think it is) i probably wouldn't have a lot of need for it.

i'm real happy for you, GR! did the screen seem huge to you when you took it out of the box? my eMac has a 17 inch screen. when i took my new iMac out of the box & saw that 20 inch screen, my heart started pounding.

Noah brought the eMac home for me to work on, & it looks so quaint to me now. i was all like "aww, it's so sweet!" hehe.

i can't even imagine a 24 inch screen. it must feel positively decadent.

Thanks. And yeah, it did look pretty huge when I first saw it. (I'd say it's only a little bit taller than my PC monitor, but a good 50% wider.)

HUGE, yet tiny. that's the beauty of a Mac.
