I saw this the other day. That cat looks to me like it has one deformed set of ears, they didn't say if it literally has four eardrums that work. I think it's just the lobes that are divided. I hate CNN sometimes.
arachnid_flame
wow, what a unique little kitten. emo-tmbgtalk_grnbiggrin.gif

you're probably right about the undevided lobes macho emo-tmbgtalk_thumbup.gif it'd be REALLY strange if it had four seperate eardrums. It would have like, super hearing emo-OMGjawdrop.gif I mean, cat's already have pretty awesome hearing, right?

Yeah, I would've like to know if the extra set of ears is actually functional, or just ornamental. emo-tmbgtalk_hmm.gif

That poor turtle! emo-tmbgtalk_ohwe.gif I hope the owner gets it back soon before anything really bad happens to it...

biff
i didn't originally hear about it on CNN. that was just the video i found when i searched it. emo-tongue3.gif

i guess they'd need an x-ray to know for sure... emo-tmbgtalk_dunno.gif

the turtle, on the other hand, eats with both heads, so maybe it's got 2 seperate sets of innards. i hope they find him. emo-tmbgtalk_nut.gif
arachnid_flame
yeah, I hope they find him too! emo-Sad_anim.gif

aww that's so sad/cute!
biff
i think it's a really cute cat. maybe they should start breeding em all to have 2 extra ornamental ears. emo-tmbgtalk_yeah.gif
ladognome
huh...so the cat doesn't actually hear out of the other 2?
(i don't know if it said that in the video or not...i didn't see the whole thing)

hey, I found this page about "four eared" felines emo-tmbgtalk_thumbup.gif

http://www.messybeast.com/freak-ears.htm

according to it, the extra "ears" are merely extra ear flaps that are set behind the functional ears, but usually are not connected.

they're really cute though, even if they're not functional emo-tmbgtalk_yeah.gif
biff
aww, cute little kitties. emo-tmbgtalk_daz.gif

emo-tmbgtalk_yeah.gif They are. emo-tmbgtalk_thumbup.gif

A secondary set of smaller ear flaps (pinnae) is set behind functional ears. and not connected; there may be rudimentary middle ear structure

I guess that answers my question, then! emo-tmbgtalk_grnbiggrin.gif
