Flansblog 9000:
GETTIN' GREAT IN TWENTY AUGHT EIGHT! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

"TMBG wish all our email friends a very Happy New Year! Our resolutions? More shows, more albums, more podcasts and more free stuff for EVERYBODY!

2007 has been an action-packed year for the band. We sincerely want to thank everybody who came out to all the shows, signed up for the podcasts, and everyone who picked up a copy of The Else. We bookended the year breaking many long standing records for the band: early on we did our earliest show ever (8:30 am), and coldest outdoor show (26 degrees), and ended the year driving the slowest miles per hour to a gig (a stark, snowy oscillation between soul-crushing boredom and looming catastrophe). But even under extreme conditions a good time was had by all.

We are looking forward to Aught Eight with great anticipation. The big big show at the Beacon in NYC will be a fun way to start the year. Looks like it's well on its way to selling out in advance, which always puts a spring in our step. The horns will be joining us, and we will probably be doing an extended set of material new and old, with some surprises we can't talk about too much. Hope to see you all there, or elsewhere down the road in March!
John F., age 47"

They Might Be Giants have a BRAND NEW kids' DVD & CD set coming out on February 5!

It's called "Here Come the 123s" and is available right now for pre-order to arrive at your doorstep, probably on the day of release, by those reliable and well-read people and robots at Amazon. This is the link that will rock your Amazon pre-order:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=...%2F&tag=tmbw-20

To give everyone an interesting preview of the "Here Come the 123s" project, TMBG also has just launched our kids' video podcast, which has been in and out of the No. 1 position on the kids' video podcast chart for the last few weeks. We want to encourage everyone to check it out. It is not only FREE, it will be a WEEKLY posting starting this Friday, and will be getting a bit more elaborate as we get into February.

Here's the link to the free kids' video podcast:

TMBG's myspace staff would like to invite all you loyal readers on our email list to visit They Might Be Giants' myspace page. Not only does it have direct links to the latest videos and ALL the ticketing information about the upcoming tour, it includes original poetry in the form of haiku and limericks from TMBG's myspace friends.
This week's challenge, in which we hope you'll participate, is to pen a limerick about the New Year. All limericks need to follow the traditional form ("There once was a ___ from ___") and should be posted as a comment on the They Might Be Giants profile so everyone can see it! Possible themes: What will happen in 2008? What are you looking forward to? What do you dread?

I've already bought my tickets for the Omaha show. emo-thumbsup.gif (I just hope nothing happens between now and then... emo-CROSSFINGER.GIF )

biff
what could possibly happen? emo-tmbgtalk_lol2.gif
GRChereck
emo-tmbgtalk_hmm.gif I know it sounds silly, but I always imagine the worst about stuff like this -- I worry about the show getting canceled, or about something else coming up so that I'll have to miss the show. (I don't want to go into specifics, lest I jinx things. emo-tmbgtalk_lol5.gif )

biff
emo-tmbgtalk_lol2.gif i understand worry all too well. i hope you don't have to too much though. emo-emo-tmbgtalk_hug.gif

GRChereck
Thanks. emo-prplhappy.gif It's stuff I consider (and maybe brace myself for), but I don't dwell on it.

biff
that's good. emo-prplhappy.gif (i tend to be a dweller) emo-tmbgtalk_bigblush.gif

i've never really worried about my show getting cancelled... but that's only cuz i never thought of it. emo-tmbgtalk_nut.gif

i've worried about car trouble though. emo-tmbgtalk_nailbiter.gif

after my first show, i worried that i'd never get to see em again. that was pretty depressing. emo-050505tmbgtalk_ohwell050505.gif
arachnid_flame
I was so afraid that I'd never see them! I'm so happy I did though! emo-tmbgtalk_girlslayer.gif

that's so cool! I hope you guys have lots of fun emo-tmbgtalk_grnbiggrin.gif emo-tmbgtalk_girlslayer.gif emo-tmbgtalk_dancesmiley.gif emo-BIGFATSMILE.gif emo-thumbsup.gif

I love the Flansblog too emo-tmbgtalk_yeah.gif

I still haven't seen the kids podcast yet emo-tmbgtalk_dunno.gif I kinda wish my dad still lived where I do here...he'd get it for me since I use public computers and can't download stuffs emo-tmbgtalk_girlslayer.gif I'll have to call him and ask...
biff
i think it's pretty much all gonna be on Here Come The 123s, so if you get that you'll probably have em all. (& if you have the ABCs, cuz some will probably be from there too) emo-prplhappy.gif

Verminous Countenance
The Halloween night show here was great Biff! They did a lot of stuff from The Else, some standards and a couple of wierd things in honor of halloween. They all came out kind of in Zombie makeup and said this was a dead show, every song they've ever done with death in it plus any song they could add "of the dead" to the title. They did a little shadow puppet ghost show in honor of a politicion that had just died here that very morning too.

I was able to take my almost 17 yr old daughter to the show too! She wasn't yet 16 last year and couldn't go to the "all ages show" at The Music Farm. BTW, The Music Farm is on the Venue Songs disc. Unfortunately I missed that years show so I'm not part of the crowd noise dammit!

In a week or so I'll post a pic of what my wife got me for Christmas. It's TMBG related and so cool you'll squeel.
biff
i'm squealin already, Verm! emo-too_excited.gif

i'm glad your show was so special. emo-tmbgtalk_daz.gif it's always funner when you can bring the kid(s). emo-BIGFATSMILE.gif

did the guys look like this...
