The WGA/SAG sure showed them, huh? 
i guess so, but i missed it. 
Hopefully that's drastic enough that the AMPTP will realize they need to come to an agreement fast.

Yeah.
Of course, depending on how the Globes thing turns out, the producers could just as easily say, "Well, what's good enough for the Globes is good enough for the Oscars -- we're not giving in to the writers that easily." It'll be interesting to see what happens...

Yeah! A lot of the fun of those shows is the fashion-show aspect. 
And yeah, I was really looking forward to what kinds of jokes Stewart would make this year.

Meh...I like Stewart, but I like a lot of comedians who have hosted the Oscars, but they always seem to bomb on Oscar night. I also wish they could move things along for once, at a decent pace.

yeah, Jon is slated to host the Oscars again. i thought he was funny the first time he hosted, but i might have been in the minority.
i like it long. if the Oscars are over before like 11:30, i feel all gypped.

Oh, I missed the Oscars last year, so I didn't realize who hosted it.
it wasn't Jon last year, it was Ellen Degeneres (sp?) & i thought she sucked.
My mom likes Ellen. I'm indifferent.
Apparently the People's Choice Awards bombed recently. The writer's strike had something to do with it. I dunno what, I didn't really read that far. I think this is gonna help a lot.

I thought Jon was a really great host, too (though Steve Martin is probably my favorite).
I watched the People's Choice last night (how's that for being in the minority?), and I thought it was an OK show under the circumstances; some of those pre-taped acceptance speeches were pretty funny, and I liked the idea of the winners answering fans' questions (even if they were a bit on the banal side). The lack of celebrity involvement -- no presenters, and not everybody who won had a speech prepared -- probably did hurt it the most.
Maybe between this and the Globes, the producers will say, "This is a disaster, let's see if we can make a deal with the writers before the Oscars." One can only hope!

You know what? Now that I think about it, I think I do remember watching the Stewart hosted show. It seems like a long time ago now.
sometimes a couple of years can seem like a long time. & ps... i have nothing against Ellen. it just felt too "day time" when she hosted.
The Oscars would be better if Bruce Vilanch went on strike forever.
